    I think the problem was this: the Yes performance was at the end of the day’s festival, and apart from the obligatory “1,2”‘s by roadies, the band didn’t have the chance to play their usual sound check when things would be knocked into shape. Effectively, a lot of what you hear is just such a sound check. Also, I suspect the recording has been taken from the BBC video of the gig, part of which was broadcast on the Old Grey Whistle Test, and which has been issued on a bootleg DVD, not from a sound board recording.

    I was there, and there were serious sound issues for the first few numbers. Interesting to see if that’s been remedied.

      They have not, unfortunately. Whoever was doing the mixing must have been asleep or high during the first half hour. It gets better later. We have improved the EQ and added some stereo enhancement. Hope you enjoy it nevertheless.
