I know Anton’s drum playing only from bands with Marius Neset. Very curious to hear that trio. Thank you so much!

Thanks Stephan. Best way to hear the music and support the artists is to buy their records.
Everyone says that their latest album, “Life to Everything“, is terrific.
Peace, love and jazz,

Dear Live Jazz Lounge,
We have recently been informed of the inclusion of this recording on your website and we’d like to ask you as a matter of urgency to remove this from your site. This is a breach of copyright law as you do not have permission from the composers and performers to record them.
Please remove this within 24hour or our legal team will in touch with you.
thank you

Dear all at Edition Records,
Thanks for writing to the LiveJazzLounge.
The LiveJazzLounge blog is produced by a private individual that loves this music. It is a totally non-profit, commercial-free enterprise. In fact, it costs money. But it makes zero money. (Unlike your organisation.) LiveJazzLounge only posts about music that is not available commercially anywhere. For the most part, all posts are derived from material that is publicly and freely available. It is the policy of the LiveJazzLounge blog for any content to be immediately removed from the site as soon it becomes commercially available. All posts contain an image of the latest or most related album released by the featured artist that is directly linked to a site (e.g. record label, Amazon, artist webpage) from which the album can be directly purchased. The LiveJazzLounge encourages in its webpage the purchase and support of the artists featured in the blog.
The LiveJazzLounge is therefore a site that promotes the music and the artists, freely and without making any profit (unlike your own enterprise). It encourages people interested in the music to purchase the relevant recordings that are commercially available. This results in enhanced visibility and increased sales for the featured artists. Importantly, the links for purchase are solely provided for promotion of the artists work. The LiveJazzLounge makes no profit whatsoever from any purchase. We do know that the purchase links are widely used by the visitors of the website. The LiveJazzLounge blog has received the praise and gratitude of several of the featured artists.
You write on behalf of Phronesis. However, it is not clear to us what legal rights you have to represent these musicians as these are not apparent from or explained in your previous email.
The LiveJazzLounge blog does not wish to post information about Phronesis if Phronesis does not wish to have their work promoted in this blog. This is not clear at the present time. All posts featuring Phronesis will be removed as soon as bonafide and verifiable confirmation of Phronesis’ disapproval to this effect is received. When this happens, the posts will be replaced by a copy of these correspondence. This is for future record of Phronesis’ wishes on this matter and as a service to their audience and community of followers so that they know about Phronesis stance on this matter.
Many thanks for contacting the blog. We hope to hearing from you soon.
Peace, love and jazz,
LiveJazzLounge

Dear Live Jazz Lounge, I am copying in Sue Edwards, who manages Phronesis and represents their publishing and performing interests. She has instructed us, Edition Records, their record label, to approach you to remove this recording from your site as it is in breach of their copyright.
We feel this live recording could prohibit fans buying their latest album ‘Live to Everything’ and additionally feel that the associated artwork for this recording on your site does not reflect their visual image and interests correctly. Therefore it is vitally important you remove this recording immediately from your website and understand never to feature additional recordings by Phronesis or other Edition Records artists in the future without prior permission of the copyright owners.
I look forward to seeing the removal of these recordings ASAP.
best regards
Dave Stapleton

Dear LiveJazzLounge
Dave Stapleton has forwarded me your correspondence.
We were unaware that you were using a public recording of this concert, and presumed it to be a recording you had made.
I suggest that in future you contact the musicians or their representatives in advance out of courtesy, to let them know of your intention to post live recordings of their music, in order to obtain permission when necessary and avoid any misunderstandings.
Thanks and best wishes
Sue Edwards

Dear Sue,
Thanks for your message. The link to the recording has now been blocked.
We note that all our posts contain links for purchase of commercial works by the musicians featured.
We have stats clearly showing a strong use of those links by people that visit the site.
We disagree that this post “could prohibit fans buying their albums”, as our data show the opposite.
Our blog only features items that are already available elsewhere in the web and not sold commercially. It enhances and promote the work of the artists.
We have hundreds of comments from people that discovered new artists through our posts.
We also have many comments from musicians themselves, thanking us for featuring their work.
It is obvious to the artists that we have no means to contact everyone in advance.
This is a hobby of a music lover, not a commercial enterprise (unlike Edition Recordings).
And, again, the material is not available commercially and had already been posted elsewhere.
As a musician, I would be very worried if blogs like this one would never bother to highlight my work.
Peace love and jazz,
LJL
